Obama and Me

3.23.2008

Drove: 2 hours to Eugene
Stood: 2 1/2 hours in line
Waited: 1 hour inside the building

To hear Obama speak. Totally worth it. There were so many people in the auditorium that it shook when they clapped and cheered. We were some of the last ones to get in and they turned away over a thousand people still in line. I had wanted to go that morning to his speech in Portland, but the 13,000 tickets were taken in 3 hours.

The top two pictures are zoomed in and the bottom one a more accurate representation of where we were sitting. I found the speech a little low on content, but I suppose that's the way these rallies go. Obama is an excellent speaker, and the crowd was crazy about him.

Example-
Obama: And the environment...
Oregonians: Yah!!! Wow!! [standing ovation] He said the word "environment"

It was funny because before Obama couldn't even make a point everyone would start screaming and cheering. He's bigger than the Beatles here. Oregonians are also incredibly jazzed that their primary will matter for the first time in 40 years.
